My AC is Leaking, What Do I Do?

A leaky air conditioning unit is a fairly common problem to come by. It’s likely caused by one of the following symptoms:

  • Condensate drain line is clogged
  • Drain pan is rusted or damaged
  • Condensate pump is broken
  • Air filter is too dirty and needs to be replaced
  • Refrigerant is low and needs to be refilled

If you try changing the air filter, and the problem persists, we recommend calling a professional to repair your AC system before the issue becomes worse.

What Does It Mean When My AC Blows Hot Air?

If your AC unit is no longer blowing cold air into your home, it’s probably a result of one of the following issues:

  • The thermostat could be set incorrectly to heat instead of cool
  • Air filter needs to be replaced
  • Some type of airflow restriction between the compressor and refrigerant
  • Your system hasn’t been maintained regularly
  • Something is wrong with the electrical connections and the unit is not receiving power
  • The return duct is broken or disconnected

If the thermostat is set properly and your air filter is clean, then your AC is most likely blowing warm air for one of the other reasons, which require the help of an HVAC professional.
